The Shadow of Modernity and Circular Gurus
The kinds of secular gurus that we look at at the moment do seem to operate in the shadow of the institutions mainstream media, the blue church of the academy as they like to call it. They don't draw their epistemic and moral authority with reference to an orthodox consensus literature or whatever but rather with reference to not their spiritual powers or their connection with God but their polymathic powers, their unique intellectual capability. So I'm just for shadowing Chris, our theme of anti-establishmentarianism. That's all I wanted to do.
