The Four Stoic Virtues
One of the four stoic virtues was practical wisdom. The idea that if you're practically wise, you always know how to behave no matter what the circumstances are. So selecting the right clothing for the right occasions can be an exercise in practical wisdom. Depending on where you are, depending on what the situation is and so on and so forth, there are certain things that are going to be appropriate, and other things that are not going to be a close.
