The Power of Inevitability
I love this section at the end of the book. I wish that more authors would do this where he essentially does commentary on every single one of his stories. He says, something we admire most in fiction is an ending that is surprising yet inevitable. This is also what characterizes elegance and design,. The invention that seems clever, yet totally natural, inevitable. It's not even close. And like, baby, when you find the beat, somehow my sister Jess has the superpower where anytime a lyric is hard to understand, she just knows what they're saying. Yeah, that is like a superpower.
