The Purpose of a D a E Drone

Every farmstead was patrolled by d a e drones. Regular observation and enforcement was the only way to protect unapproved propagation, unlicensed seeding and independent fertilization. The citizens who lived and worked on farmstead allotments didn't understand that. They tried to undermine the d a es goals by eating more than their permitted percentage of crops or hiding live stock for their own use. If a d a e drone wasn't serving its function, then it was a waste of the resources of those vendors who supported the entire agricultural political complex. It would need to be repaired. Refurbishment was rare, but common enough to linger over echo's shoulder.
