PBFT Algorithm: Validator Consensus

People often talk about this much higher transaction per second rate and there's so much more potential. But then, like you just said, if it's not the longest chain, then what is it? It's come to agreement by the validators. And I'm not exactly sure how you go from there to having the rest of the network knowing what is the accurate one.
