The Wesleyan Methodist Movement in the Anglican Church
Whitfield considered himself to be a Methodist for his whole career. He would have opposed a formal Methodist break away from the Anglican Church. Even though Whitfield was constantly fighting with Anglican Church officials about ministry and theology, he always considered himself a reformer within the church.
