We Need to Empty the Ash

Bethany: The poem actually is amazingly domestic. There's stuff happening around the house. I think the ash is central to the poem and that is it's an object that barely exists in the presence. It echoes there's a lot of afterlife in the poem. And how does that help you with this fairly abstract idea of light having a duration?
