Killer whales have been seen attacking boats in the waters off Washington state. The behavior is significant, but what it signifies isn't clear to experts. "I think you just have to accept that these large animals are living their life," says marine mammal expert John Boulden.
Since 2020, orcas off the coast of Spain and Portugal have been ramming boats, biting rudders and, in a few cases, sinking entire vessels. Now it has been reported that a similar encounter has happened off Shetland.
