The science of pleasure is something we've gotten wrong and continue to get wrong. For the longest time, scientists thought dopamine equaled pleasure; it was like literally chemical pleasure that you just sprinkle out in the brain and happiness ensues. A scientist named Kent Barrage really believed that dopamine equated pleasure. And he did more experiments, this is what science do to support the hypothesis. They're fires on sugar water: rats love it but they don't enjoy it because there's no dopamine.
