I Believe in Purgatory
Even in the early church Christians were immediately offering up prayers for those who died even Christians who had died. C.S. Lewis talks about this a lot I'm talking about the doctrine of purgatory he says imagine you arrive at the gates of heaven and even if the angels in the saints said in the Lord and God himself said come in come inCome in and celebrate but you realize I'm kind of dressed in filthy rags I need to clean up. Even so I would rather be cleaned up first there is an element where we are not fully ready to enter into God's presence because my heart hasn't been prepared.
