I Am the Light of the World

Theophany is a celebration of christ's conquest of the demonic powers which have enslaved mankind and infested the cosmos. The hymnography, an the iconography of the orthodox church for this feast focuses particularly on the hand off of the christ child from the theotocos to saint simeon.
