It's just Nicole Kidman doing that same thing from Nine Perfect Strangers. It's a weird choice because they do this a lot of movies like Luca is it Italian and they're all speaking English, but they have Italian accents for some reason. I think the thing that was confusing is when randomly some character speaks non-English. "I didn't know that the word Berserkers was a Norse word," he said.
