There appears to be some kind of sentiment as we already have been talking about it, some sentiment in the public that supports this kind of policing. What can this kind of punitive policing do in a community? You have to remember that before UPG came to power, for about 15 years, the state was ruled by Bhajan Samad-party or Samajwadi party. The administration had been completely emasculated because of two reasons, corruption and support to criminal elements, particularly the mafia, which had emerged. Because of that, there were any number of instances when the administration was humiliated, the police officers were humiliated.
