The Decolonizing Process of Theater Making in Senegal

Dior: I was finding that in each of these different episodes that I was studying, there was an attempt to address and often undo or at least adapt the kind of colonial heritage of theater as an art form. There is a problematizing of that notion that comes from other theater scholars back to Bekery Thorey, who was a Senegalese theater scholar. Dior: The origin of Frankfone African theater was at the Akolbiyam Fonsie, and that was how theater went from France to West Africa.
