The Upwingers' Worry About Opportunity Cost
The upwingers have a tough thing, they've got rockets on their side and they've got off to the nearest other side. They're having to explain opportunity cost, which is counterintuitive to human beings. I think effective altruism has a real blind spot this way because of its kind of residual precautionary thinking. Even though they think of themselves as being very futuristic, their racial views are constrained by a sense of preserving what we right minded enlightened people think is good now.
