Welcome back to Wisdom from the Top. I'm Guy Raz. Where were you? What was going on in your life in late 2016 when you're contacted by someone who says, Hey, can you come and run Zenefits like help bring it out of this crisis?

For me, I had just come off of having my latest company, Uyala, acquired, and I had been on the sidelines. And quite frankly, I had really started to think that I kind of closed the book on the operating chapter of my career. I was very involved in a number of different boards. In a couple of cases, I'd been a long-term board member in a couple of companies, and I'd been a fairly active investor in a few others. And so I was actually quite busy, but not in a full-time job and certainly not in an operating capacity. And the team at Andreas and Horop, what's it called me, and just said, we've got to slate of people that we're talking to. And your name and quote-unquote profile keeps kind of coming up in these conversations. And rather than talk about somebody that has some of your kind of experience and sort of leadership skills as a model, we want to reach out to you to see, is this something you'd even consider?
