Science Fiction - The Miphos of Science
Every human culture has had a mythos that defines its sense of purpose and being in the world. It's not necessarily directly about thinking about science, or taking a scientific idea and extrapolating it into the future. Science fiction is trying to make sense of what science is showing us about the world. We're going to continue what we've been doing on it's going to be kind of a colonial mission. This doesn't give you modern space race, but it gives you an attempt to achieve this. In a way it gives you elo musk to fulfil this very powerful science fiction myth.
