The Importance of Faith

Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. To have faith is to believe in a proposition despite there not being sufficient evidence for doing so. We always have to trust the evidence, even when we have enough evidence to justify belief in something. When you go skydiving, there's a lot of evidence you will survive the jump based on statistics. But you still have to make a leap of faith and jump out of the plane.
