The book is in two parts. The second part is a very different side of living in Berlin at the time. It's several stories setting Berlin about kind of expert life and things like that. So you've got the comedy, the comedian's story, and then the love story. But I don't think it's not raw as a book because it's something where I've thought about it, time has passed. so it's not me writing wounds which are kind of open in my life at the moment. James Harris is a writer, comedian, English teacher and language learner (French, German, Chinese) from England. In this funny chat, we talk about learning Chinese, being married to a Chinese woman and his semi-autobiographical book, "Midlands" which tells several funny and touching stories about two ex-pats living in Germany; Stuart, who is a stand-up comedian trying to understand the Germans, and Doug who gets involved in a love affair. James reads several passages from the book during the episode.
