The Witch Hunt and the New Society
The witch hunt was instrumental to destroy a whole set of practices and social subjects, you know, that were antagonistic basically to the kind of values. And for example, women's reproductive capacity under the control of the state. In fact, witch class and infanticide, which was a very, very broad category, were the two crimes which most women were executed in the 16th and 17th century. The obsession with mentality that begins in this period is the beginning of demography, they begin to count people, et cetera, etc.
