The black death is still the most fatal pandemic in recorded human history. Scientists have found that a bacteria called esinia pestus was the cause of the disease. It spread from central asia to places like western Europe, north India and even the United States. The virus killed up to 200 million people between 13 forty-six and 13 53 - when the world's population was much smaller than today.
