The U Shaped Curve in India
There was this big feeling when liberalization happened that as the structural transformation happens and india grows richer, right? There are going to be more women in the work force. That didn't quite pan out. The economist response to that is there is a w shaped curve. As communities get richer, first women drop out of the labor force because they feel like they can make thait trade off. Children should be raised by the woman in the house,. if acultural preference in india, of course, it's this honor income trade-off.
