The Importance of December 12th

The court elected Bush by insisting on the importance of December 12th, a date that is significant only because it was used in 18th century arrangements to create stately series of certifications. It makes no sense to demand that a breathtakingly close election be decided by any magic date in December in order that a new president be chosen by January 20th.
