The Chilean Junta - A History of Self Government

The chilean hunta was the most moderate and prosperous of all the south american huntas. It scrupulously maintained its allegiance to ferdinand, describing their every move to their brothers in cadis and buenos ares and lima swea up and down that they were not republican separatists. The rivalry between santiago in the north and conception in the south led to a power struggle inside the junta.
