Then the Church Dispensed Grace Like Medicine

The ancient church had two sacraments. The early medieval church only had two sacrams. But the church said, well, listen, these sacraments are ways we can infuse grace into people with which they can cooperate. And since they're on the hook to cooperate, then that gives them an incentive to be good because you have to be good as you cooperate with grace. You're sanctified by grace and cooperation with grace. That whole system has marginalized the Bible. We don't have soul of feed a right by faith alone; we don't have by scripture alone.
