The Indian Government's Response to the Bhopal Gas Disaster

The Indian government agreed to reopen the case against Dow Chemical in 2010. The true number of deaths related to the Bhopal disaster and its after effects had grown to over 22,000. Seven local managers of the Indian plant who were now in their 70s were eventually prosecuted by the Indian government. They were each sentenced to two years imprisonment and find a little more than 2,000 US dollars. By 2016, the pension had stopped, forcing many widows to resort to begging on the street for money.
