The Ending of a Novel
Douglas Rushkoff: The ending is always the ending, yeah. I never think I wish to go beyond that because what I like in an ending is to take my characters and after I've shared them with the reader to then give the characters to the reader. And so many of my characters are living on the fringes or on the margins that they will come up against challenges throughout their life. We could make a choice on a moment and life could spiral in any way. And I think a novel should feel as alive as that. That's what I try to achieve with my endings.
