Is There a Lack of Innovation in Science?
The trend towards specialization has become so intense in recent years that I think it's stifling an awful lot of creative thinking and innovation. There could definitely be an argument made that we, the type of progress that we're making isn't novel or truly innovative because of a lack of interdisciplinary thinking. Science requires you to think imaginatively. The idea that the arts are imaginative and that the sciences are unimaginative is a complete mistake.
