The Meaning of Sacrifice

Our word sacrifice comes from the Latin word sacrificial. It's a term for a religious act in which a thing is made sacred. In Greece, there was a kind of primordial split between types of sacrificial processes. You would offer your offering in the daytime to honor gods that you thought were friendly to humans.
