The Death of Aratus of Sicaeon

In 213, Aratus of Sicaeon died of his condition. His son followed him not long afterwards and suffered a severe mental breakdown. Philip married the now widowed polycretia so shortly after her husband's demise. The loss of Aratus meant that there was no one to reign in Philip's ambitions or mediate between the king and Greeks.
