The idea was that the caterpillar in its own staff knowledge was all knowing itself. I think we have to distinguish between knowledge that can influence behavior and knowledge that couldn't possibly have any effect on the physical organism. So if the lack of agency is being disrupted by some low level neuro chemical process, then cognitive knowledge is not enough to undo that. But there are other things where cognitive knowledge might be enough to undo certain aspects of our self so I just sit in in a place where I say that, you know, none of this is black and white"
