The Disadvantages of the Liberal Democrats in Scotland
Liberal Democrats in Scotland have fumbled that a little bit. They certainly did not benefit from the coalition, which was disastrous for the Lib Dems in Scotland. After 2010, they just plummeted. In 2011, the S&P picked up a huge number of Liberal Democrat voters. The return of the Liberals, splitting the unionist vote, also helped Labour to outmaneuver the Conservative vote and win first-past-the-post seats.
