Introduction
Cicero was one of the greatest minds of Rome, and wielded one of its most silver tongues. His career was built more on talent than on any exalted family background. Perhaps the peak of his rhetorical achievements was a set of speeches denouncing a man named Cataline for conspiring to overthrow the Republic. For many readers, like Saint Augustine, Ciceroanian Latin has been more or less synonymous with good Latin.
