The Importance of Aerobic Conditioning in Sports Training

There are a few layers to how I think about why aerobic fitness is important for team sport athletes. The one that's probably not understood well enough and not emphasized enough is improved recovery between training sessions and games. For me, if you don't have adequate aerobic fitness or you're not adept aerobically, the cumulative effect of being unfit or not as aerobically fit as you need to be has a massive impact when you think about the course of a pre-season or an entire in-season period.
