The Sermon on the Mount
The sermon on the mount is not meant to be taken just matthew five seven out of context. Matthew very deliberately uses language that's evocative of moses to sort of show jesus like teaching the new people a new set of rules. And one of the things that you notice quite a lot in the sermon on the Mount is it's often about allegiance, or where you in your affirmation from. Whose affirming your identity? Who are you acting for?
