The optimal duration of anticoagulation is very interesting to discuss because it is really dependent on the patient. How can patients be assessed whether there are candidates for outpatient management for PE and what percent of patients actually need this criteria? The most severe sequelae of pulmonary embolism which is called a post-PE syndrome is the chronic thromboembolid pulmonary hypertension.
