What Are Varro Mites?

Varro mites are tiny red-brown parasites of honeybees. They feed and reproduce on the larva and pupa in the developing brood. This not only weakens the bees themselves, but helps transmit numerous viruses. Colony symptoms commonly called parasitic mite syndrome include an abnormal brood pattern or sunken and chewed cappings.
