The Importance of Distance in Architecture
The best english architects in the pre modern period all share the fact that they are from less well off backgrounds often builders families. That kind of gives them this distance but like hawksmore or this as soon as they die and their charisma is gone people start knocking down their buildings because they don't conform to classical archetype. You have to really be in the presence of the partly this is about the means of reproduction not being the same as what we have now.
