The Importance of History in the Film
At one point you and Luca were going to co-direct. The French financiers thought that would probably be a mistake. They had very little money and a very short shooting period. So it was decided by the financiers of the movie that there should really only be one director and that would be Luca. That was okay. I didn't mind. With the writing of the screenplay, the adaptation of the screenplay,. I thought it was interesting to come across some things where obviously anytime you adapt the book, it's there going to be changes. It's got to take a different form. But you made some specific things with regard to history, references regarding Greek and Roman
