The Mosaic Law

The way the mosaic law has been thought of over a couple of thousand years really has anged. The bible was translated into greek, and torra becomes namasla in greek. People who are hearing the bible read to them in latin associate the mosaic law with tora - all the things that they would associate with that term from within their culture. And then later, of course, in english, a, tora is translated as law, so that english speakers associate with ora all the things we think about law. It's demanding, its commanding, it's inflexible. There are penalties.
