The Importance of Land in Rural Revitalization
Texas' business model is to grow biomass on marginal land that's heavily salinated. So what we do is usually find a customer that wants to use a giant reed to replace wood in some application. And then we contract with farmers who would be not using the soil, perhaps, or they would be maybe just leaving it fallow. We hope to do some rural revitalization by having this land that no longer can be used for food crops to be replaced with a product that can also replace wood.
