The Role of Promontory Forts in the Late Roman Period

Sites like Donacare which is a coastal promontory site where we've got settlement there from the 2nd century through to the 4th century maybe earliest 5th century. They're kind of real eye-opener in terms of our understanding of Pictish settlement and late Roman into post Roman context. And then just before lockdown in 2019 we began working on this huge hill fort at Tabanoth which overlooks Rhaeny about 40 minutes west of Aberdeen so up in North East Scotland. It looks extraordinary just online it's massive.
