The History of Robin Hood
Some scholars think there was actually a real life Robin Hood who sparked the legend. The story of Fulk Fitzwarren predated the original ballads about Robin Hood. But in the 1500s, a Scots writer named John Major set his account of Robin Hood during the time of Prince John. That ended up being the setting used by most modern writers in their versions of the Robin Hood legend.
