The Importance of Suicide

Many people think that under certain circumstances, suicide is morally acceptable. So if you believe that suicide is actually an option for people in extreme situations, surely you must believe that assisted suicide is okay. For example, I personally would be opposed to assisted dying for existential despair. That's not an appropriate use of this law or indeed an appropriate role for a doctor. But one of the interesting things is to look at the surveys, the data from surveys, and very consistently approximately 80% of the population support assisted dying.
