Cancer in Pregnancy - Ionizing Radiation
Accurate diagnosis and staging, combined with gestational age, affects decisions about surgery and chemotherapy. The use of iodinated intravenous contrast is safe during the pregnancy but gadolinium-based contrast material should be avoided. Radiography or CT exams that do not include the uterus have negligible fetal exposure.
