The problem of slavery was much bigger than anything we're dealing with today, right now. And therefore, either that was going to be peacefully abolished as it was in Britain and a lot of European countries, or it would be forcefully abolished. There was no pathway of half-free half-slave. So maybe you've asked one of those, but I don't know what to do about this.
