I've been writing this story in my head for 20 years. You'd be amazed at how fast something comes out, like when you've been unconsciously subconsciously writing something. The tricky parts were like the McElvain's have become these dear family friends. So what I didn't want to do was ruin these precious friendships, you know, over a piece of journalism. This was like the world's longest pregnancy. Like there's no mammal I can think of that is pregnant for 20 years or something.
