The Importance of Passing on Memories Between Generations
The 1918 pandemic caused the global deaths of probably 50 and maybe up to 100 million people, making it the worst natural disaster in all of recorded human history. William Hearst said that we could pass on memories between generations in maybe two ways. One is just word of mouth like you telling your children or grandchildren about the pandemic. But research shows that these types of oral histories last maybe one or two generations.
