How Do the Facts Matter?
In the bad old days, a thousand tortures ee have one victim and one pain pr using machine. Each turning of this switch makes some victim's pain only imperceptibly worse. We must claim it can be wrong to impose pain on people, even if these acts would make no one's pain perceptibly worse. Even if some act would not make any one's pain perceiveably worse, this act may be one of a set of acts that together impose great pain on one more person. These effects can make such acts wrong.
