When I was growing up, if you saw a Rolls Royce, it would often have a scratch down the slide because if people saw that sort of demonstration of wealth, they would attack it. We're very, very touchy in the UK about being sold to. Therefore, there's a whole kind of thing around money and wealth. There's just the wartime post-war spirit of the UK that got us through rationing - we're proud of our toughness through adversity as opposed to being driven by success.
